Contouring & Highlighting

Ever wonder how to get that FLAWLESS finish!? You know that flawless makeup glow all those celebrities seem to have? Like Jennifer Lopez, she's always glowing! You might be thinking well yeah they are celebrities it's their job to be beautiful, or well of coarse they look beautiful they have makeup artists they can pay to do their makeup!... or as I always say to myself well of coarse their skinny they can afford a trainer....HAH  Well guess what!? By no means am I a physical trainer (Jillian can help you with that) But I CAN teach you the art of contouring and highlighting, so that you can have that gorgeous glow, and bring out your natural beauty!

Highlighting and contouring can take a little bit more time than your every day make up rountine, but it can really change your look! By highlighting certain area's you are accenting those facial features to make them stand out. And by contouring certain area's you are hiding those facial features. It's basically like you are sculpting your face, adding cheek bones, and softening your facial features to give it that flawless look. Sounds awesome right!? Here are some tips!

For contouring I usually suggest using Mary Kay's Timewise Liquid Foundation about 2 shades darker then your natural shade. If you like a liquid I suggest Mary Kay's Timewise, (which I used on my model) it goes a long way and has awesome coverage. If you have oily skin use the Matte-Wear, If you have dry skin use the Luminous-wear. You can also use a Mineral Powder OR a Bronzer. I actually like to set my liquid foundation with a mineral powder, just to give it an extra smooth finish! The area's I usually contour are:

     *    Under your cheek bone's: Makes your cheek bones stand out more.
     *    Along the hairline: Makes forehead appear smaller.
     *    Eye crease (if your not wearing eye shadow): Makes your eyes pop.
     *    Along the sides of your nose: Makes your nose appear smaller.
     *    Along your jawline

For highlighting, there are a couple of different options. I usually suggest using Mary Kay's Facial highlighting Pen, that would be my #1 choice. I like it because it has great coverage, is applied with a built in brush, and is a liquid. Or you can choose to go with Mary Kay's Mineral Highlighting Powder to illuminate your skin. You could also use a foundation that is 2 shades lighter than your normal. Mary Kay's Timewise Liquid Foundation, again is great for full coverage and goes a long way. I am also excited to introduce Mary Kay's NEW Translucent Powder. This will work great to accent those areas you have highlighted, or want to highlight and to set your foundation! The area's I like to highlight are:

*Under your eye's, and top of cheek bones: A place that is naturally shadowed, we                                                     dont want to conceal it we want to highlight it!
*Your Brow Bone: This can be done with a lighter eyeshadow as well.
*Inner Corner of the eyes
*Down the center of the nose
*Center of the forehead

And here is Kim, my beautiful model! Can't you tell she has been using Mary Kay for years! She's as beautiful a person inside as she is outside! Always looking out for other's and will do anything to help her friends! She is a faithful client and a wonderful friend!

Use this diagram I made as a reference and have at it! I would love to see your own makeover pictures!!

Notice what a difference it makes with her face shape! It brings out her cheek bones, Brightens her smile, and gives her that overall glow!

I always like to fill in eyebrows and give them shape, especially when they are blonde. For her eyebrows I just used a touch of Cinnabar Eyeshadow and Mary Kay's Eyeliner/Eyebrow Brush to make them pop and to help shape them. I think a simple shadow can give it a little softer look than a brow liner, however you could also use Mary Kay's Mechanical Brow Liner. It is a universal blonde shade that flatters almost anyone! Defining brows can really do wonders to finish off your overall look!

For her eyes I used Mary Kay's Black Mechanical Eyeliner. For her shadow I used Moonstone Mineral Eyeshadow, Spun Silk Mineral Eyeshadow, and Midnight Star Mineral Eyeshadow to make those gorgeous blue eyes pop! It is finished off with Mary Kay's BRAND NEW Lash Love Lengthening Mascara in black! The brush is curved and separates your lashes nicely to give you the ultimate length!

And lastly for her lips I used Mary Kay's vitamin enriched cream lipstick in Maple!
Her overall look was finished off with Mary Kay's Makeup Finishing Spray By Skindinavia, this will set your makeup and make it last for up to 16 hours!

Any questions? Just ask! Would love the see your own gorgeous glowing looks as well! Have fun!

Great Makeup Starts With Healthy Skin!

Hello my beautiful friends! I've been brainstorming some awesome idea's for this blog and getting so excited about all of the fun makeup tips I want to share with you! I wasn't sure where to start, until I thought, well what is the first step to having beautiful makeup? It's having healthy skin!! As a Mary Kay consultant, and licensed esthetician I like to teach the importance of healthy skin before I do any makeup.

It is so important to wash our faces morning AND night! Did you know when you don't wash your face at night you are adding 13 DAYS to your skin!? I've always had a nightly skin care routine of washing my face at night..tone..cleanse..moisturize. I would pretty much buy a different cleanser every time I ran out of one, just searching for that great one I couldn't live without.Well I finally found my Mary Kay. For those of you looking for something simple AND beneficial I recommend using This 3 in 1 Cleanser and Moisturizer if your normal to dry, and This 3 in 1 cleanser and Moisturizer   if your more oily. These 3 in 1 cleansers are deep cleaning pore cleansers, used to cleanse, exfoliate, and tone. That takes care of three steps all in one! Then just add your moisturizer designated for your skin type!

Just to show what Mary Kay has done for me, I've decided to share with you my 'before I started using Mary Kay' picture. It's more like an awful 'mug shot'......
YIKES! Pretty huh?? Hah, well notice...uneven complexion ...dark spots on my face from past acne spots (Did you know that being in the sun causes those dark spots to get DARKER?? Yes, that's because the sun brings out the melanin in our skin, making those awful spots that are already dark, darker. Because of that I always wear at least SPF 35 on my face!) ...some dark circles under the eyes...not so pretty. NOW for the after picture, about two months using Mary Kay's TimeWise Ultimate Miracle Set
 After about two months!
NO MAKEUP NO TOUCH UPS!
Notice a more even complexion! My dark spots have faded due to TimeWise Even Complexion Essence AND TimeWise Even Complexion Mask (which I did 1-2 Times a week)
(The awesome thing about the Ultimate Miracle Set is that it is anti-aging, and is available according to your skin type! Normal to dry OR combination to oily.) The Miracle SET also INCLUDES the Day Solution, which contains calming peptides to reduce the look of redness, and an SPF of 35 to protect from sun damaging UVA and UVB rays. AND a Night Solution or as we like to say A.C.E. for your face! The little pink and purple beads that burst when you pump it out are actually vitamins A, C, and E to help our skin heal (works great to heal cuts or acne spots!) The Night Solution also contains collagen to help renew skins firmness and elasticity while we sleep!

Now as for the under eyes we have our Eye Revitalizer to help with puffiness and dark circles!. Between the cooling roller ball used to apply, and the cucumber extract there's no better 'wake up' for your eyes! Since the pores around our eyes are smaller, this makes the skin around our eyes the fastest spot that we age. Mary Kay's Firming Eye Cream will provide the proper moisturization that our eyes need!

Maybe your thinking anti-aging? I'm only in my 20's (or younger)? WELL, in actuality, dermatologists say that we start to age at the ripe old age of 16!!! Yes folks, our collagen production actually slows down at the age of 16! Because of that I always say you're never too young and you're never to old to start an Anti-aging skin care regimen. If your going to get into the habit of washing your face at night, why not use something that is going to benefit your skin in the long run?

I love being able to share with all of you what Mary Kay has done for my skin. Imagine what it can do for yours! Oh and Don't forget Mary Kay has a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Thanks for stopping by! Don't hesitate to ask questions!
